On September 5, 2019, Dr. Kamiel Gabriel, elected fellow of Canadian Academy of Engineering, former assistant deputy minister of research and science adviser, professor of Ontario Tech University visited Menergy’s Chinese Headquarters in Jishan, Nanjing to meet with Menergy and other companies. This was another face-to-face scientific communication after Menergy management team meeting with Dr. Gabriel in early August this year.

Besides Dr. Gabriel, Mr. James Jiang, President of Menergy Group, President of JCCC (Jiangsu Commerce Concil of Canada); Mr. Lei Li, President of Canada NT Home Service Inc.; Mr. Feng Li, President of Nanjing Dream-Eden Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd.; Mr. Liang Sun, Director of Industrial Cooperation Department of Jiangsu Software Park; Mr. Ling Yang, Deputy Chief of Corporate Services Division of Jiangsu Software Park; Ms. Judy Zhang, Deputy Secretary General of Jiangsu Commerce Council of Canada; Ms. Xiang Cheng, Chairperson of Nantong Oversea Returned Scholars Association, the interpreter of Dr. Gabriel’s book “The Anatomy of Innovation”; Mr. Tao Yang, President of Menergy Corporation; Dr. Ling Sheng, Vice President of Menergy Corporation; Mr. Zhaobin Wang, Executive Deputy General Manager of Nanjing Menergy Equipment Co., Ltd. and Mr. Ligen Wu, Assistant to the President, all attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Mr. Ling Sheng introduced the development of Menergy Corporation in China. Mr. Zhaobing Wang introduced manufacturing base of Menergy Equipment Co., Ltd. and the latest achievements in R&D and manufacturing. Mr. Ling Yang made an introduction on the development of the Software Park and its enterprise support services. Dr. Gabriel introduced geothermal institute in Ontario Tech University and current research projects. He was one of founders of the University’s Geothermal Institute, with more than 30 years experience in clean energy research. The institute is engaged in research on innovative technologies, development and application of energy technology. It is one of the top Canadian organizations for innovation. It was awarded as “Canadian Distinguished Research and Education Institution” due to its advanced research and innovation capability and its high quality education. The institute is also responsible for the largest geothermal project in Canada. Dr. Gabriel was very impressed by that Menergy’s development in China and its abilities in R&D. He believed that there are a lot of possibilities for both sides to cooperate in fields of R&D and technology.

On the afternoon of September 5, 2019, Dr. Kamiel visited Menergy’s Canada – China environmental protection demonstration projects: the geothermal project at Jishan Base, Jiangsu Software Park and the geothermal project at Huatai Securities Plaza with the largest number of energy piles in China. Dr. Kamiel spoke highly of Menergy’s design and construction level after he learned about scale, complication and construction difficulty of these Menergy’s landmark geothermal projects.

With more energy piles and overall volumes than any other projects in China, its underground piping technology outside of reinforcement steel cage was the first in China.)

After the meeting, Dr. Kamiel and management team from Menergy were invited by Mr. Zhu, Yaozhao, Vice Principal of Nanjing Tech University to visit their thermal science and engineering laboratory. They exchanged the latest research results with scientific research team of Nanjing Tech University and discussed several problems in the field of R&D of geothermal heat pump. Dr. Kamiel presented Dr. Zhu his own book “The Anatomy of Innovation” as a gift. He invited Dr. Zhu to visit the clean energy laboratory of Ontario Tech University. He also expressed his wish that excellent students from scientific research team of Nanjing Tech University could be sent to Ontario Tech University to join their scientific research.

Mr. Li Xu, former Deputy Secretary-General of Jiangsu Provincial Government,  Honourary President of Jiangsu Finance Association and Mr. Runliang Wang,  President of Chinese International Association for the promotion of investment met and had dinner with Dr. Gabriel and management team from Menergy. Mr. Xu encouraged both sides to combine capital with scientific and technological innovation so as to create more value.

Dr. Gabriel’s trip to Nanjing enhanced mutual understanding with Menergy and its team, establishing a good basis for future cooperation in scientific R&D. We believe that our cooperation will bring more improvement and application in geothermal technology and innovation.
